Yard Flamingos Are The Newest Trend in Fundraising

Over the last few years a new movement has grown in fund raising techniques: Yard Flamingos fund raising.

Sure it might be a little laughable when you first think about it. But the non-profit organizations that have used it plainly can’t refuse its strength in raising $100s+ in contributions. Also, fund-raising should be fun,  after all.

Well, What’s This All About?

Take for instance a church wants to hold a Yard Flamingo fund-raising event.

The church declares that they’re now holding the flamingo party. Then some members of the church service secretly plan together, decide on a "target", and drive to the marks home, either at night or when the target is at work.  There the person’s lawn is covered with at least 20 Yard Flamingos and a sign in placed that reads “You have been flamingoed!”

The "target" should give a free-will donation of 10-20 dollars to have the Pink Yard Flamingos taken out, however donations of $50-$100 are fairly common.

The target then is able to select who is the next member of the organization to have their yard flamingoed, and then the fun begins all over again.

Top 3 Benefits:

1. Yard Flamingo fund raising really brings everyone involved. It is an enjoyable way of keeping everyone connected so there’s not one person who might feel left out. If you’d like to want a social, active organization then this ought to be the most vital advantage to you.

2. Once in while people just do not have anything to talk about. That’s ok. The Yard Flamingo fund raising method is a great conversation subject. People want to hear about where the pink flock is and who is getting flamingoed in the near future.

3. Of course the very last advantage is the fund raising technique itself. Some of the  larger non-profit organizations have multiple Yard Flamingo flocks going at the same time, raising the amount of donations that come into the non-profit. You might think about this too if you’re working with a non-profit organization that’s a substantial size.

Those Tacky Yard Flamingos Are Here To Stay!

Don Featherstone designed the first plastic yard flamingo in 1957, and I’ll bet he had no idea that they would still be just as popular 52 years later.  They are like the cockroach of the lawn ornament world — you just can’t get rid of them!  With flamingo flocking becoming a popular way for charities to raise money, Yard Flamingos have increased in popularity, possibly even surpassing they’re massive popularity in the 50′s.
